THEME: Harnessing Innovations in Higher Education for Accelerated Economic Transformation

The conference is both timely and relevant, as institutions grapple with the commercialization of research outputs and other innovative products. It provides a platform for stakeholders to examine the critical role of innovation as a catalyst for sustainable economic development through higher education.

Format of the Conference

The conference is a two-day blended event with a physical venue at XXX Gulu City and online participation via Zoom webinar. The Conference shall adopt a plenary presentation approach with keynote speakers on the subject matter, discussion panels moderated by experts, and authors presenting their research findings.

However, the conference will adopt an approach where participants will be divided into several focused group sessions, each dedicated to a specific subtheme. This will allow participants to engage deeply with topics of their interest. The approach will enable participants to have the flexibility to move between halls, participating in sessions most relevant to their interests or expertise.

Conference Goal

The goal of the conference is to provide a multi-stakeholder platform for dialogue, knowledge exchange, and strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening the role of higher education institutions in driving innovation-led economic transformation. By showcasing best practices, policy insights, and institutional innovations, the conference seeks to stimulate reforms and partnerships that enhance the responsiveness, relevance, and impact of higher education in achieving national and regional development goals.

Conference Objectives

  1. To assess the effectiveness of curriculum and pedagogical reforms in improving graduate employability and fostering innovation, with actionable recommendations for integration into higher education programs.
  2. To showcase best practices in fostering entrepreneurship and start-up ecosystems within HEIs.
  3. To explore strategies for strengthening university-industry linkages and knowledge transfer.
  4. To promote transformative research and innovation in STEM fields for national development.
  5. To provide a platform for networking, policy dialogue, and strategic collaboration among stakeholders.
  6. To provide a platform for researchers to present their research findings.

Expected Outcomes

  1. Increased awareness and adoption of innovative pedagogical approaches and competency-based learning.
  2. Strengthened institutional frameworks for entrepreneurship and innovation incubation.
  3. Enhanced collaboration between academia, industry, and government for applied research and commercialization.
